NaPoWriMo Day 12: Add Salt

Day 12: A Replacement Poem (hope for pickle)

Add Salt

Hoping is the process of preserving
your dreams of conserving your wants
-canning the should-a, would-a, could-s.

You see, hope can fail to survive,
if you don't make a hope brine
of sweat inducing action -  of work.

Hope cannot sustain you. It's the side dish
to the main meal. You'll see. No wish
carries through if it is just stuffed and seasonal.

You can still can keep your traditional hopes -
just stay clear of the usual tropes
and produce more than shrunken dreams.

Here's to warmer weather, to do lists and fruit flavored gummy snacks.
