NaPoWriMo Day 18: Prideful Courting
Day 18: A ruba’i or two
Prideful Courting
I waited for you to ring today,
with squinted eyes and body sway.
But anticipating did not make it so -
I suppose this is the game you'll play.
Oh dear, I wouldn't wish you to miss
my crafted locks, my gentle kiss,
my paired tie and pocket square -
My manly scent... I do insist.
You must indeed come around
to hear the deep and sultry sound
of my voice when angry, or simply glad
as I talk freely to you - unbound.
There are such things you've yet to know
about my whims, struggles and cares.
So I'll wait for you, I am no cad.
I'll wait for you. I am no cad.
Here's to Robert Frost, my inspiration for this poem, and to the blissfully unaware.
