Day 21: A New York School Poem*
just some other stranger
on the Highline in the
summer time.
I quicken my brain
and slow my pace.
Taking it all in, no company
save my thoughts. Well.
Yes sir, I'll take a picture.
You and your wife.
Kid, pass me your iPhone,
I'll save this memory
for you and your friends.
And me? I'll bend my knee
snap a Lilliputian
smile at a baby
flex a foot
take compliments on
my hair.
I will stretch an arm
to take a selfie
smiling though
alone
on my NYC walk
